WASCAL CCLU Centre has organized a 3-day training programme on Policy Brief Development. This programme took place on the 16th to the 18th November, 2022 at the WASCAL Building.
The objective was to strengthen the capacity of WASCAL’s graduate and post graduate students in policy brief development for increased engagement in policy processes and advocacy.
Prof Boateng Kyereh gave the welcome statement on behalf of the Director WASCAL CCLU Centre.
Amongst the facilitators were Dr Portia Adade Williams, Research Scientist from CSIR-STEPRI, Dr. Owusu Amponsah, Senior Lecturer, Department of Planning, KNUST and Mrs. Aba Brew-Hammond, Senior Lecturer, Publishing Studies, KNUST.
Participants included PhD students from WASCAL CCLU Centre, RWESCK, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Economics, Department of Environmental Science and CARISCA - KSB.
Participants benefited from the following training modules i.e. Foundation of policy and policymaking, Policy briefs and How to engage in policy advocacy.
Dr. Portia Adade Williams took the participants through the following technical sessions i.e. Understanding the policy context, Introduction to policy briefs, Policy brief development, Writing policy recommendations and Evaluating a policy brief.
Dr. Owusu Amponsah took the participants through Policy planning and implementation and Mrs. Aba Brew-Hammond took the participants through the Editorial processes and publication of policy brief.
Amongst other members present were the supporting staff of WASCAL CCLU Centre, Dr. Amponsah, Scientific Coordinator, Akua Osaa Awuah, IT/Office Manageress and Theresah Sarpong-Peprah, Secretary.
